Dan Achen at the console In today’s copy of the Hamilton Spectator a short and sincere thank you went out to those who knew Dan.

Dan’s extended family would like to thank their friends and Dan’s many colleagues in Hamilton, across Canada and abroad, for their extraordinary support after Dan’s untimely passing. Your kindness and generosity have given us much comfort, and we have enjoyed hearing and reading your many stories about Dan. Special thanks to Colin Cripps and Tom Wilson for organizing the wonderful wake, to Ian Smith and Jessie O’Brien for the music at the reception, and to all the performers; to Father Jim Link of St. Joseph’s Parish, Hamilton, for the beautiful service at which Colin, Tom, Ray Farrugia, and Russell Wilson sang a poignant farewell. We also thank Rob Rowley, Andy Curran, Michael Chambers, Duke Foster, Tristan Miller, and Paul Degner for their friendship and kindness. We thank Ron MacLean of Hockey Night in Canada for the tribute to Dan, and extend our gratitude to staff at Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home Robinson Chapel, and Bayview Gardens. Our additional thanks to Riley’s many friends, to Cindy McClure, and to everyone who sent donations to Hamilton Foodshare and MusicCounts. Rest in peace Dan. You will always shine.
